Steve E. Bumpus, 49, Of Chicago, IL formerly of Arcola, IL passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Steve was born on October 19, 1960 in Springfield, IL. He was the son of Fred and Sue (Shrader) Bumpus. He married Irene Dzido on February 18, 1989 in Chicago, IL
Steve graduated from Arcola High School in 1978 and from the University of Illinois in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in finance. He began his career at the Chicago Board of Trade. In 1987, he joined Greenwich Capital Markets, which subsequently merged with the Royal Bank of Scotland. Steve was an Elder and active member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, serving on several committees. He was passionate about teaching fourth/fifth grade Sunday school and was a tireless supporter of the church’s youth ministry. He was an avid skier and loved the slopes at Alta, UT, especially the Glades on powder days trying to keep up with his daughter. He enjoyed catching the "big one" in Key West, FL, and made a "mean" blackened grouper sandwich. He was a diehard Cubs fan and wouldn't answer the phones during an Illini basketball or football game. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and his genuine interest in all people he came across, both young and old.
Steve is survived by his wife Irene Bumpus, his daughter, Chelsea, his parents Fred and Sue Bumpus, his sister Sally Cavanaugh and her husband Mike and their children Katie, Kellie and Kristie, his father and mother-in-law Eugene and Mary Dzido and his sister-in-laws Chris, Diane and Grace Dzido.
