Thelma Korte

THELMA D. KORTE, 93, of Arthur, IL, passed away at 10:13 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Zion United Church of Christ, 701 North CR 250 East, Arthur, IL. Rev. Ralph Deal will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Thelma was born October 18, 1915 in Garrett Township, IL. She was a daughter of Hans and Dorathea (Ritz) Heit. She married Frederick A. Korte on April 5, 1939 in rural Arthur, IL at the Zion United Church of Christ. He passed away December 29, 1990.

Survivors include four children; Ronald E. Korte and his wife Ruth F. of Tuscola, IL, Janet K. Osborne and her husband Paul V. of Decatur, IL, Larry D. Korte and his wife Pam K. of Covington, IN and Phillip F. Korte and his wife Karen S. of Garland, TX; eight grandchildren; Chris A. Korte of St. Charles, IL, Marc D. Korte and his wife Julie N. of Fishers, IN, Kevin P. Osborne and his wife Marinda of Monticello, IL, Craig A. Osborne and his wife Lois of Stafford, VA, Kyle D. Osborne and his wife Mandy of Mt. Zion, IL, Robert A. Korte of Bloomington, IL, Eric M. Korte of Covington, IN, Matthew D. Korte of Bryan, TX; eight great-grandchildren Paige Korte, Olivia and Isabel Korte, Heather, Emily and Kristen Osborne and Ethan and Jackson Osborne.

Her parents, her husband and one granddaughter Kimberly K. Osborne, one brother, Orval Heit and one sister, Marie Hansen preceded her in death.

She was a life member of the Zion United Church of Christ of rural Arthur where she belonged to the Women’s Fellowship and Come Join Us. She played the piano and organ at the church for nearly 80 years. Thelma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, flower gardening and baking cookies.
