Toby Herschberger

TOBY J. HERSCHBERGER, 85, of Sullivan, IL passed away at 11:30 A.M.

on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at his residence in rural Sullivan.


Funeral services were held at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 17,

2009 at Helmuth Custom Kitchens one mile south of Arthur on the

County Line Road. Bishop Omer Otto officiated. Burial was in the

Otto Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL. Visitation was held after Noon

on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Helmuth Custom Kitchens. The

Edwards Funeral Home assisted with funeral arrangements.


Mr. Herschberger was born on August 15, 1924 in Douglas County, IL.

He was a son of Jacob E. and Katie A. (Diener) Herschberger. He

married Lydia Ann (Chupp) on September 11, 1952 in Moultrie County,

IL.


Survivors include his wife Lydia Ann Herschberger of Sullivan, IL,

one son Olen Herschberger and his wife Christine of Castle Rock, CO;

four daughters, Kathryn Mullet and her husband Marvin of Sullivan,

IL, Rosanna Helmuth and her husband Glen of Belvidere, TN, Ruth

Gingerich and her husband Ivan of Arcola, IL and Laura Herschberger

of Sullivan, IL; eleven grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, nine

great-grandchildren, forty-seven step great-grandchildren, three

step great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Alma Kauffman of

Arcola and Alta Yoder of Roodhouse, IL.


He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, one

brother, Menno Herschberger and one sister, Fannie Hochstetler.

Toby was a member of the Old Order Amish faith.
