Tommy Spivey

TOMMY EDWARD SPIVEY, 47, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 1:50 A.M. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his residence in Mattoon, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main, in Arcola, IL. Rev. Clyde Masten will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Sunday, at the funeral home.

Tommy was born on June 11, 1965 in Mattoon, IL. He was a son of Kenneth James and Mary Ellen (Schultz) Spivey. He married Sherri L. Brooks on August 10, 1985 in Mattoon, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri Spivey of Mattoon, IL, two children, Jessica Lynn Shaw and her husband Dave of Greenup, IL and Nicholas James Spivey and his special friend Sammy Worthy of Toledo, IL; two grandchildren, Avery May Shaw and Khloe Anne Shaw; his mother, Mary Ellen Spivey of Greenup; two brothers, Dale Spivey and his wife Paula of Mattoon, IL and Kenneth Spivey of Mattoon, IL; four sisters, Pam Bumpus and her husband Alan of Charleston, IL, Edith Brown of St. Louis, MO, Carol Sudkamp and her husband Steve of Greenup, IL Linda Meier and her husband Chris of Mattoon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Tommy worked for CHI Over Head Doors in Arthur, IL for the past six years and prior to that he worked at Trailmobile in Charleston, IL for fourteen years. Tommy was an avid hunter, fisherman and jack of all trades.
