Tyler B. Brewer, 45, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in his home. Born July 31, 1967 in Decatur, the son of Thomas Brewer and Luellen (Bolsen) Cochran. Tyler graduated with a BA in Education from Millikin University. He was the owner and founder of the Dolphin Swim Club, which he started in 1991.

Tyler has been a valuable and active member of the United States Swim School Association since the early 1990’s. Tyler served as a board member taking over the reins as the VP/President Elect in 2007. He finished serving as President in 2011. Tyler was a founding member for the Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation. He will be remembered not only for his charitable contribution and relentless focus on quality teaching of the youth in the Rockford Area Community to swim but also for the deep love of his children and the joy of watching them grow.

Lovingly survived by his daughter, Hannah Brewer; his daughter and son, Jourdan Brewer and Ethan Salzman (and their mother, Amy Brewer); mother and stepfather, Luellen and Don Cochran of Lovington; father, Thomas Brewer of Arthur; brother, Tod Brewer of Arthur; nephews Tanner and Jakob Brewer and significant other, Georgette Cutler of Lake in the Hills. Predeceased by his grandparents, John and Mona Bolsen and Walter and Mildred Brewer.


Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 South Mulford Road. Immediately following the visitation, at 6:30 p.m., a Celebration of Life gathering was held at the Dolphin Swim and Tennis Club, 6588 Spring Brook Road. Funeral Service were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Arthur United Methodist Church, 128 East Illinois Street, Arthur, Illinois 61911, with a brief visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial was in Keller Cemetery in Lovington, IL. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted with local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to Tyler’s children or the Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation, www.swimforlife.org.
