Vera Jess

VERA MAE (PLANK) JESS, 58, of Arthur, IL passed away at 1:02 A.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at her residence in Arthur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Nelson Jess residence, 60 E. C.R. 000 N. in rural Arthur, IL. Bishop Howard Otto will officiate. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL. Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Nelson Jess residence. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Vera was born on May 5, 1953 in Douglas County, IL. She was a daughter of Jacob M. and Lizzie (Yoder) Plank. She married Andy E. Jess on April 6, 1972 in Arthur, IL.

She is survived by her husband, Andy Jess; six children, Lizzie Trevino and her husband Shane of Charleston, IL, Paul Jess and his wife Treva of Arthur, IL, Ruby Schrock and her husband Larry of Sullivan, IL, Ernest Jess and his wife Mary of Howe, IN, Mary Miller and her husband Jacob of Vienna, IL and Myron Jess and his wife Emma of Arcola, IL; thirty two grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Bontreger and her husband Joe of Centerville, MI and Lucy Stutzman of Sullivan, IL and five brothers, Lonnie Plank of Arthur, IL, Ivan Plank and his wife Clara of Arthur, IL, Norman Plank and his wife Emma Mae of Arthur, IL, Orie Plank and his wife Barbara of Arthur, IL and Jerry Plank of West Moreland, TN.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Martha Kuhns.

She was a housewife and, helped operate Central Illinois Poultry Processing with her family.

Vera was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
