Vernice Lee

Vernice Marie Lee, 83, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 9:30 P.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main, Arcola.  Visitation will be held one-hour prior, from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.  Private family burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Mattoon, IL.

Vernice was born on August 24, 1936 in Mattoon, IL.  She was a daughter of Bernard Franklin and Helen Marie (Kincaid) Stevens.

She is survived by four children, Susan Beals of Sugar Hill, GA, Peggy Smith (Wendell Hawn) of Mattoon, IL, Michael Godden of Sullivan, IL and Jeanine McVicker (Mike McVicker) of Mattoon, IL, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Bonnie Kearns of Humboldt, IL and Norma Jordan of Mattoon, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Helen Stevens, one son, Kevin Kyle Armes, and one sister, Margie Decker.

Vernice retired from Kerns Garment Factory in Neoga, IL.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family.
