Virginia Brooks, 79, of Arcola, IL passed away at 12:35 A.M. on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL. Rev. Brandon Hatfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the funeral home.

Virginia was born November 10, 1928 in Marion County, IL. She was a daughter of Clyde and Viola (Pickle) Tate. She married Orville "Gene" Brooks on February 24, 1962 in Arcola, IL. He passed away September 23, 2002.

Survivors include two sons; Mike Arthur and his wife Sandy of Arcola, IL and Jon W. Arthur and his wife Diana of Chillicothe, MO; four daughters Patricia McCollam of Urbana, IL, Diana L Bailey and her husband David of Marshall, IL, Marilyn C. Idleman and her husband Conrad of Sullivan, IL, Karen S. Brooks and her companion Don of Mattoon, IL; 10 grandchildren, Tom McCollam and his wife Missy of Ogden, IL, Tanner McCollam of Urbana, IL, Jon Ryan Arthur and his wife Patti of Rantoul, IL, Michael Bierman of Chester, IL, Michelle Galeski and her husband Mark of Shawnee, KS, Brad McElravy and his wife Heather of Greenup, IL, Stephanie Meinhart of Dietrich, IL Amy Bloxam and her husband Junior of Kentucky, Jason Haga and his wife Amy Jo of Mattoon, IL and Dawn Gordon of Mattoon, IL and 18 great-grandchildren;

Her parents, her husband Gene Brooks, two sisters one that passed away as an infant and Lucille Clough and one grandson Bobby Gordon preceded her in death.

Virginia had worked as a waitress for 35 years, having worked at the Shell Gas Station on Rt. 45 and Jefferson St., Cottage Inn, Embassy Lanes and the Hen House all in Arcola.

Virginia enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Arcola Public Library or Donor's choice.
