Virginia Johnson

VIRGINIA H. JOHNSON, 86, of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:10 A.M. on Tuesday, September 08, 2009 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main, Arcola, IL. Rev. Donald Winch will officiate. Burial will be in the Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the funeral home.

Virginia was born on September 14, 1922 in Mattoon, IL. She was a daughter of Robert G. and Shella (Hunt) Smith. She married Ross J. Hogue in 1946 he passed away in 1951. She later married Kenneth J. Johnson in 1955 he passed away in 1987.

Survivors include her daughter, Kristine Aubrey and her husband Kenneth of Arcola, IL two grandchildren, Kendal Ann Gardner of Arcola, IL and Gregory Lee Gardner and his wife Jennifer of Mattoon, IL; two great-grandchildren, Silvey and Ginger Gardner; two step grandchildren, Bill Aubrey and his wife Stephanie of Jacksonville, Arkansas and Kenna Clark of Toledo, IL and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and one brother, Robert I. Smith.

Virginia was a member of the Arcola Presbyterian Church and the Kaskaskia Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and her daughters’ five cats and dog.
