Vonda Ann Allen
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Jonathan Creek Christian Church, 1425 Jonathan Creek Rd., Sullivan, IL. Pastor Tim Henderson will officiate. Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Vonda was born on September 16, 1942, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the daughter of Charles and Mae (Thomas) Matlock. She married Bennett L. Allen on June 15, 1962, in Dallas, TX.
She is survived by two children, Benn Allen of Atwood IL, Kris Helmuth and her husband George of Atwood, IL, two grandchildren, Corey Helmuth of Sullivan, IL and Olivia Helmuth of Windsor, IL, one brother, Herb Matlock and his wife Mary Jo of Colbert, OK and one sister, Sue Gilliand of Rockwall, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, Katrina Heart, and two sisters, Ernestine Warhurst and Charlene Bull.
Vonda was born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas. She graduated in 1960 from W W Samuel High School in Dallas, TX.
She was an Army Veteran.
She attended Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX where she graduated with an associate’s degree in ministry. She was a minister for over 50 years.
Vonda was a member of the A.P.E.P.T. (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Preachers, and Teachers)
She was also a member of the Jonathan Creek Christian Church in rural Sullivan.
