WALTER M. “MAX” FABERT, 87, of Arthur, IL passed away at 3:32 A.M. Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Arthur United Methodist Church, 128 E. Illinois St., Arthur, IL. Rev. Leroy Allison will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Arthur United Methodist Church. Public Masonic Rites conducted by the Arthur Masonic Lodge will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Arthur United Methodist Church.

Max was born on February 26, 1925 in Benton, IL. He was a son of Walter and Elsie (Crane) Fabert. He was raised by his uncle Glen Fabert, who later adopted him, and his grandmother, Emma Fabert. He married Laura Lou Swearingen on April 6, 1947 in McLean, IL. She passed away September 14, 1998. He later married Patricia Plumb on May 19, 2001 in Hanover, MI.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Fabert of Arthur, IL; 4 children Sara Ann “Sally” Senteney and her husband Ralph of Kewanee, IL, Harlan Keith Fabert and his wife Martha of Sullivan, IL, LeAnne Tully and her husband Galen of Arthur, IL, and Glen Eric Fabert and his wife Deb of Mooresville, IN; nine grandchildren, Clint Senteney, and Amanda DeValkanaere of Kewanee, IL, Hadley (Jill) Fabert of Arthur, IL, and Mindy (Aron) McPheeters of Sullivan, IL, Michael (Katrina) Taylor of Arthur, IL and Erin Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, Glen Derick Fabert of Champaign, IL, Darren and Alex Fabert of Mooresville, IN; great-grandchildren, AJ, Madalyne, Riley and Archer McPheeters; Hadden Fabert, Matthew and Laura Senteney, Ayden and Cooper DeValkenaere and Justin and Bradley Taylor. Also surviving are Patricia’s three sons, James, Joel and Peter, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents while he was still an infant; a sister Ada Martin and a brother & sister in infancy and one great granddaughter Emily Fabert.

Max attended Cadwell School, Arthur High School, and Bradley University; graduating from Arthur High School in 1942. Max served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was involved in the Normandy & Okinawa Invasions.
He had been a member of the Arthur Chamber of Commerce, the Arthur Board of Education, the Arthur Rotary Club, the Arthur Town Board, and the Moultrie/Douglas County Fair Board. He was past master of the Arthur Masonic Lodge 825 A.F. and A.M., past District Deputy Grand Master 14th Eastern District, Ansar Temple Shrine Club and the Arthur Lions Club. Max has been a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church for over 50 years, having served on many boards. He wintered in Texas where he was involved in many things, one of which included singing with the Senior Ambassadors (Men’s Choir) as well as the Nomad Shrine and Clown Unit.

Max was a well-respected businessman and friend to many and a devoted husband, father and Papa.

Memorials may be made to the Arthur United Methodist Church, Arthur Lions Club or the Arthur Masonic Lodge.
