Wayne Smith

Wayne Smith, 67, of Kemp, IL passed away at 12:13 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his residence.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at a later date. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Wayne was born on April 2, 1957 in Owensboro, KY. He was a son of Thomas Owen and Mary Rachel (Arms) Smith. 

He is survived by two sons, Travis Wayne Smith of Hindsboro, IL, and Toby Board and his wife Amelia of Plano, IL, three grandchildren, Dawson Wayne Smith, Adeline Grace and Bennett Chase Board, four siblings, Ruby Decker of Sarasota, FL, Don Smiley of Arcola, IL, Mary Stewart of Hugo, IL and Judy Ashely of Celina, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Voncille Hudson, James Thomas Smith, John Allen Smith, Earl Smiley and Elsie Condarco.

Wayne had worked at Thomas Monahan Company for 43 years. He started out in the Handles Plant and retired in 2017 as a plant manager of the Mop Shop.

Wayne enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and WWE Wrestling.

Wayne had a great sense of humor and he was very quick-witted.
