Willa Davis

WILLA DEAN DAVIS, 82, of Arthur, IL passed away at 4:40 A.M. on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at her residence in Arthur, IL.

Visitation was held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL and from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Strode Funeral Home in Gamaliel, KY. Graveside funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in the Gamaliel Cemetery in Gamaliel, KY.

Mrs. Davis was born on October 12, 1926 in Gamaliel, KY. She was a daughter of Edd Lewis and Iva (Proffitt) Ryherd. She married Leland Larkin Davis on January 5, 1946 in Tompkinsville, KY. He passed away on January 16, 1956.

Survivors include one son, Eddie Wayne Davis and his wife Mary of Heyworth, IL; two daughters, Linda Gale Brooks of Arthur, IL and Connie Jo Foran and her husband John of Arthur; five grandchildren, Brian Davis of Farmer City, IL, Monica Miller and her husband Tim, Patrick Foran, Nolan Foran and Brittany Foran all of Arthur, IL; two great-grandchildren, Caden Miller and Sadie Gallagher and ten siblings, Clyde Ryherd, Carl Ryherd, Wilma O’Banion and James Ryherd all of Gamaliel, KY, Essie Harlin, Paul Ryherd and Faye Oye all of Arthur, IL, Dwaine Ryherd of Vandalia, OH, Eva Whitis of Avon, IN and Audie Ryherd of Sullivan, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son-in-law, Ellsworth Brooks.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Arthur Church of Christ.

She loved crocheting, quilting working word search puzzles, working in her garden and feeding hummingbirds and finches.

She had worked at Progress Industries in the 1960s and early 1970s and later worked at Little Fuse in Arcola, IL where she retired in 1989.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to the Arthur Church of Christ or the Humane Society.
