WILLIAM KENNETH BLAGG, 90 of Arcola, IL passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at 10:20 P.M. at the Arcola Health Care Center.
William Kenneth was born on March 25, 1918 in Hutton Township in Coles County, IL. He was a son of Grover Cleveland and Sarah Jane (Beavers) Blagg. He attended High School in Arcola, IL, graduating in 1938. He played football while Kyle McWerter was coach and Arcola had so many wins. He and his brother, Tom, farmed in the Arcola area from 1937 until he retired in 1985. He was member, elder and trustee of the Walnut Grove Christian Church. He was on the board of directors of the Arcola Co-op Elevator for many years and helped rebuild after the elevator burned down. He was a Drainage Commissioner for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took pride in his family.
He married Mardelle Bugh on June 29, 1941 in Coles Co., IL. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mardelle Blagg of Arcola, IL; two sons, William Larry Blagg and his wife Holly of Indianapolis, IN and Brian Kenneth Blagg and his wife Charity of Arcola, IL; seven grandchildren, Rick Blagg of Loveland, CO, Ken Blagg and his wife Leanne of Norman, OK, David Blagg and his wife Jennifer of Fredericksburg, VA, Dawn Clontz and her husband Darrell of Connersville, IN, Chenayle Gatewood of San Diego, CA, Katelyn Wooldridge and Abrian Blagg of Arcola, IL; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah Blagg of Loveland, CO, Chris and Ryan Blagg of Norman, OK, Aiden and Jorah Blagg of Fredericksburg, VA, Jeremy, Braydon and Jacob Clontz of Connersville, IN, and Ayla Wooldridge of Arcola, IL; one brother, Tom Blagg of Arcola, IL and one sister, Jean Ghere of Tuscola, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Julian and Paul Blagg and two sisters, Betty Jane Blagg and Mable Stewart.
