William Wilson

WILLIAM R. WILSON, 90, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 11:10 P.M. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church, 250 West Decatur Street in Decatur, IL. Rev. Michael Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Bill was born on December 17, 1921 in Decatur, IL. He was a son of William Roy and Martha Helene (Morenz) Wilson. He married E. Pauline Snoke on June 27, 1942 in Decatur, IL.

He is survived by his wife Pauline Wilson of Mt. Zion, two sons, Mike Wilson and his wife Robin of Rockport, MA and John Robert “Jack” Wilson and his wife Sue of Champaign, IL and three grandchildren, Ryan Wilson of Medford, MA, Brooke Wilson of Rockport, MA and Molly Wilson of Rockport, MA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mark Wilson and one brother, Wayne Wilson.

Bill was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church of Decatur, IL. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Elks Club. He volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 15 years and he was a golf ranger at Nelson Park in Decatur, IL for 14 years.

Bill was a lifelong Chicago Cub fan.

He retired as controller for Bement Grain in Bement, IL
