Willis Yoder

Willis O. Yoder, 74, of Tuscola, IL passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Arthur Mennonite Church, 710 East Park Street in Arthur, IL.  Rev. Glen Rhodes will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Willis was born on November 14, 1944 in rural Arthur, IL, to Omer E. and Anna L. (Miller) Yoder.

He is survived by two sisters, Irene (Clarence) Plank and Viola Michael, nine nephews, three nieces and many cousins and one aunt, Edna (Noah) Helmuth.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, William Michael, one uncle, Chris E. Yoder and twelve aunts.

He graduated from Tuscola High School in 1962, attended Heston College from 1962-1963, he then entered (I-W) Voluntary Services from 1964 to 1966 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL. Willis enjoyed flying and took basic flying lessons while in Sarasota, FL during his I-W service.

Willis then joined his father in grain and dairy farming.  He enjoyed sports in high school and FFA, showing his Championship Calves.  After retiring from farming, he enjoyed taxi driving for the Amish and mowing his lawn.

He will be missed by family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Arthur Mennonite Church or the Quad County Home Health and Hospice Care.
